I have to write about the Ukraine war
So many western follies went before
The US and EU played with weasel words
Gave cash to Ukraine's right wing hordes
They broke their promises, provoked the east
So often taunting Putin's Russian beast
So now Zelensky asks for World War Three
Thinks the world stage is where he's meant to be
His country burns and thousands die
I really think we should ask “why”
He's playing a game he cannot win
While neither EU or NATO will rein him in
Of course the west will send him arms
For Boris and Biden this simply charms
The feel-good factor won't be denied
Though bombs rain down and thousands died
A war's just great for prime TV
Despite the risks of World War Three
So while our leaders all enjoy the fun
Fanning the flames of a war that cannot be won
Thousands suffer with their homes destroyed
That's surely a thing we should avoid
Wise humans can talk without using force
But I don't suppose Zelensky will take this course

This is all about state and corporations rapidly expanding their powers of censorship. It seems the covid experiment has given new impetus to this nasty temptation to control free speech. While the disaster in the Ukraine dominates the media it seems all the western governments and their corporate sponsors are quietly introducing draconian powers of censorship. The USA, Sweden, the EU and Britain are all creating “Ministries of Truth”.
As in Orwell’s 1984: “this Ministry purports to be focused on the pursuit of truth when in fact, the ministry is concerned with erasing the truth of the past and present and replacing it with whatever the Government deems “correct.” Those in charge of the ministry decide what “truth” is.”
So while we watch this dystopian horror story unfold we wait to see if Elon Musk really will be the saviour of “free speech” in his new role as chief of Twitter.
