OUR RESIDENTIAL COURSES IN 2022

Updated: Apr 1, 2022

**UPDATE 31st Mar 2022** - The April course has been slow to fill up, so we are now offering the remaining spaces at a discount of 20% per person (deposit will remain £150, and the discount will be applied to the balance). We will be taking bookings for this course for another week, but if there are not enough takers by 7th April we will have to give up the accommodation and the course. If you are on the fence, now is the time to book!

Post-covid (!) our long running SS course will re-commence this year. Once again our students will stay in the picturesque village of Low Newton by the Sea and practical sessions will take place at the walled garden in Christon Bank.

Students arrive anytime after 5 pm (in time for a 7 pm welcome dinner) on Saturday and we can collect those who come by train to Alnmouth (15 minutes drive).

We provide all food and drink (wines, home brewed beer, etc.). Students make their own breakfasts and the day's work begins at 9.30am – lunch is usually soup and sandwiches (often a working picnic), and the main meal of the day is the evening dinner party.

The costs of the 6 day residential course break down roughly as follows:

7 days B & B - £40 per day £280

6 days food and drink (as much as you want!) - £20 per day £120

6 days teaching - £80 per day £480

Total all-inclusive price £880

Students wishing to book their place on the course of their choice should click the Paypal button to pay a £150 deposit – the balance of £730 will be invoiced for payment before the commencement of your course. Deposits are non-refundable.

There are spaces for a maximum of 6 people on each course. We offer generous discounts for couples.

Course 1 – 23rd-30th April 2022 - booking open until 7th April

This is the spring course when the main activity in the garden is soil preparation and seed sowing. Early in the season there is very little food produced by the garden (the hungry gap). There will be plenty of work pricking out and potting in the greenhouse.

Course 2 – 7th-14th May 2022

This is the second sowing period for frost sensitive plants – sweet corn, courgettes, runner and french beans. Also a great time for those wishing to practice their scything skills! We will also be hoeing energetically between our seedlings.

Course 3 – 11th–18th June 2022

Mid-summer season is a time of harvesting and scything.
