WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF SELF SUFFICIENCY

When John Seymour conceived his "Complete Book of Self Sufficiency" (first published by Dorling and Kindersley in 1975) he began what has become a burgeoning "lifestyle" movement.      Almost a million copies of the book have been sold, helping literally thousands of people to change their way of life.

The New Complete Book of Self Sufficiency, updated and expanded by Will Sutherland, was published in spring 2003.     It continues to sell well and has now been followed up by The Concise Guide to Self Sufficiency, published in June 2007.

Always a man of action John put his ideas into practice on the Killowen smallholding at Dunganstown, Co. Wexford Ireland.     A regular series of summer courses was started in 1993. After John's death at the age of 90 in 2004, Will and Angela Sutherland continue to run courses at Killowen on the many and various topics covered by the Complete Book.    

Over the years many professional men and women who are thinking of changing the way they live have come to Killowen. What better place to see and experience at first hand the challenge and reward of becoming more self sufficient.
