The New Complete Book of Self Sufficiency - by John Seymour and Will Sutherland and first published by DK in spring 2003.     This is an updated and expanded version of the original "Complete Book" which was first published in 1975.    The new book has more ideas to help those who live in towns and much more about the practicalities of making the transition from a city consumer lifestyle to "the good life".     The book is extensively illustrated and contains many amusing anecdotes from John's own varied experiences.     Very much a "can do" book   with an ethos that reflects the author's zest for life.

Playing it for Laughs

This is John's X certificated compilation of doggerel and verse.     It brings together heaps of wisdom into concentrated form and liberally spiced up with wit for recitation or song.     Good for the pub on a Friday night and good to cheer your spirits when the world seems to have gone quite crazy.

The Fat of the Land

John's very readable account of his first foray into self sufficiency when he took up smallholding in Suffolk with his first wife, Sally.     Read this and you will have a first hand idea of the trials and tribulations of this way of life plus, of course, the excitement of successes achieved and disasters avoided.      Still one of John's most popular books 30 years on.

John's only published novel, this is an Imaginative tale of a future where oil supplies have run out and law and order breaks down.      The story is given added realism by John's experiences of wartime fighting in the Burmese jungle.     A good rip roaring read.
