Work and learn with us in Brittany during February
We have now started work on the new project to restore the old Mill and garden at Bodrezal near Hanvec in Brittany. The old house has already been partially renovated and the priority now is to repair the liet which brings water from the river down to the Mill. Rebuilding the weir and control gates has already taken more than 10 tonnes of concrete! Once this has been done and the water (hopefully) controlled before the winter rains, we shall start work in earnest clearing land for our vegetable garden. As things stand the "garden" is a fertile jungle of weeds and bamboo.
Along with work on the garden and the river, we also building a new south facing conservatory.
We know some of our readers might be interested in helping with the Mill renovation and, at the same, time taking part in some course activities. We are offering a reduced price "learn and work" course from 6 November to 12 November for an all inclusive price of 400 euros. We can collect you either from Brest Airport or the ferry port of Roscoff.

Work on the Mill project will include:
Clearing land with scythes
Digging deep beds
Clearing the liet of trees and roots
Building a composting area
Construction of a conservatory
Course work will include:
Harvesting and processing the apple crop - cider, jelly and pulp
Baking bread, brewing beer, making ginger beer, making sausages
Classroom sessions -
livestock husbandry, soil preparation, composting, control of pests and disease, harvesting and preserving
Basket making
Planning your smallholding
As always in France there will be opportunities to visit local markets as well as a chance to enjoy vibrant Breton folk music along with crepes and cider.
Accommodation and Food
Our price is an all inclusive price for accommodation, meals and course work. Accommodation is basic but comfortable in the newly restored rooms of the old Mill.
